The kulula family expands with the merger of Holiday Tours and kulula holidays

RWA has been working with kulula.com to consolidate Holiday Tours – the Comair-owned package holiday business – with the kulula brand under the kulula holidays banner. Through the consolidation of brands and resources, the business can now focus on marketing one brand, to strengthen its existing market share and increase the kulula footprint to include travel agents accessing the site’s awesome deals. The new Kulula holidays website now includes:

  • A new holiday live availability search facility throughout the site to allow customers to search for holiday packages, tours or hotels and browse for specific hotels using predictive search for a city or hotel.
  • Browse for a destination in a specific country using the live availability destination widget.
  • Browse for specific holidays by category e.g Family holidays, beach holidays using the holiday category widget.
  • View special offers or promotions using the tabbed offers widget
  • Travel agent login functionality (available from 8th july)

Kulula Holidays

What started out somewhere in October last year and went live on Wednesday 16th September, 45 minutes later – extremely proud that we did not miss one single deadline that we had set.

I think it just shows how incredibly well we worked together.

Complete Incoming System for TourHERO.com

RWA has delivered a complete reservation system to TourHERO. The system is based on our industry leading Sell-It Suite system, with RWA providing a full Facilities Managed (FM) offering. It includes connectivity to HBSi’s Demand Gateway which, in turn, provides access to a wide variety of supply partners.

Promotions and Discounts Functionality In Sell-It Suite

Our conversations with travel companies continue to indicate the importance of being able to quickly and easily create promotional offers and special discounts for specific products, destinations or groups of people. We have responded to this by providing some outstanding promotion and discount features in Sell-It. These include:

  • Free Night Offers e.g. stay 7 pay for 6
  • Early bird specials e.g. book more than 90 days before departure and receive 5% off
  • Discounted nights e.g. stay 14 nights and receive 10%

All of the above can be set for specific accommodation and booking and stay date ranges. You can even make the offer for a specific room type and arrival days if desired. This enables the quick and easy creation of even complex promotions such as “10% off any stay of 8 or more nights in a deluxe room in Hotel Gorgeous if you book during January for stay during June.

In addition, Sell-It includes a facility to create powerful discount rules that can be associated with groups of users and also voucher codes if desired.

Discount Rules consist of:

  • A discount amount – % or fixed
  • The channels/web site for which the discount is applicable
  • The discount period – booking and travel date ranges
  • The product types for which the discount applies (and therefore conversely does not apply)
  • A specific origin or destination for which the discount is applicable
  • A Marketing Type for which the discount is applicable.

Categories of users which define:

  • A group of users e.g. “Valued clients” or members of an organisation with a membership number
  • One or more discount rules applicable to that category

Voucher codes

  • One or more voucher codes and a link to the group of users for which the voucher code is applicable So, for example, it is then possible to create e.g. the following discounts for valued clients to whom you send a voucher code.
  • 5% off all accommodation for any bookings made by the end of December
  • 10% off diving holidays to Sharm el-Sheikh in April
  • When they enter the voucher code on the web site they will get one of the two discounts above based on the holiday they choose.

RWA to exhibit at World Travel Market 2013 

RWA is pleased to announce that we will be exhibiting at World Travel Market 2013, the leading global event for the travel industry. We will be taking part in an event boasting consistent growth in the value of deals it drives and also recognising that WTM 2013 will be bigger and better with a number of new initiatives for this year. Figures already released show that in 2012, a total of £1,860 million travel and tourism deals will be generated by the event, a 13% increase on WTM 2011. The growth is part of a wider trend – revenues generated at WTM 2012 were up 39% on 2009 figures.

RWA  will be part of the event’s Travel Tech Show which has been created with its own dedicated focus and resource. It will run in conjunction to WTM 2013 from Monday 4 – Thursday 7 November at ExCeL, London.

Holiday Tours expands new online booking inventory

holidaytoursHoliday Tours has added online availability for Phuket with Bangkok to follow on in its web-booking engine which is powered by RWA’s Sell-It Online. They have plans to introduce a new self-catering accommodation category for various destinations, including Mauritius, Seychelles and the UK. “Right now, only pre-packaged itineraries can be booked online but potential for packaging will be added from the end of July when an entirely new look and feel to the website will also be introduced,” said Product & Marketing Manager, Dezy de Lima.

TTI Summer Forum 2013 – Take Flight!

There is a revolution taking place in access to flight inventory!

TTI Forum 2013RWA recently sponsored the Summer TTI forum at the Strand Palace hotel in London on 11th June 2013. The forum discussed the turmoil surrounding the whole issue of access to flight inventory with Google sending shockwaves through the travel industry by acquiring flight distribution technology specialist, ITA Software, and developing ‘Google Flight Search’, the International Air Transport Association launching its New Distribution Capability (NDC) and the GDSs for example, Travelport launching its Travelport Merchandising Platform, there is a revolution taking place to access flight inventory.

 TTI assembled an authoritative group of speakers including RWA’s own Rob Wortham, Joint CEO & Chief Information Officer who gave their expert views on what is needed by airlines & travel management companies and who might be the winners and the losers as the latest technological developments take hold.

Sell-It Suite Enhancements

We have recently added the following customer requested enhancements into our system:

  • Additional support for managing specific restrictions on special/tactical offers e.g. first two adults get a free night, but third adult and children don’t.
  • The display of specific special/tactical offer validity details on web sites e.g. “book by 31st March to qualify for this discount” 
  • An option to control whether special/tactical discount combinations are each applied to the original price or to the reducing amount.
  • The capability to manage pools of allocation across contracts and markets.
  • Support for cancellation and amendment policies at the room type level.
  • Added further customer specific MIS reports
  • Enhancements to customer documents e.g. booking confirmations.
  • The ability to specify a specific booking class to be used for obtaining transport taxes from the GDS.
  • Adding the sales consultant’s name into the booked PNR in the GDS.
  • Support for adding passenger pricing notes to a booking.
  • scratchpad and calculator function for ad-hoc operations

RWA continue to work with TTI

Travel Technology InitiativeRWA is a member of the Travel Technology Initiative (TTI). TTI has a mission to help develop open standards for the exchange of electronic data between tour operators, airlines, ferries, hotels and rail operators. The TTI has formed a number of XML Project Teams which are developing open standards for Package Holiday Bookings, Availability and Content. It is represented on the Board and Interoperability Committees of the Open Travel Alliance (OTA).

RWA continue to work with  TTI on a number of topics including TTIcodes, OpenTravel, Spring conference 2013, Summer Forum and the Travel Technology Show. Holiday Tours “MasterTech” Roadshows

ATOL Certificate Supports New Regulations

From 1 October 2012, anyone in the U.K. who books an ATOL protected holiday or flight must be supplied with an ATOL Certificate. The ATOL Certificate is a standard document issued by anyone selling an ATOL-protected holiday, which makes clear how the trip is protected and by whom.

RWA’s Sell-It Suite system supports the fully automated issuing of ATOL certificates when appropriate products are sold or amended to ensure travel firms can comply with the new requirements. The certificates are sent to the customer via email as PDF files for both online bookings and bookings originated in the call-centre.

The certificates set out clearly what consumer protection the customer has through the ATOL scheme and the forms adhere to a strict format designed by the CAA.

Holiday Tours’ cyber model drives efficiency to trap lost business

Holiday Tours has embarked on an education drive to boost sales and agent productivity through its new ‘cyber wholesaler’ model. Agents are directed to the same web interface as consumers but agent-specific functionality is accessible to those who register through a prompted login feature. Although tailor-made itineraries for travel to certain long-haul destinations are not supported – they can still be done through the traditional channels – the system is merchandising at its best.

It is a first in South Africa…every part of the process in terms of using a tour operator has been preserved. It is a fully-functional travel agent facility and agents can quote and book without having to interact with a call centre“, said Otto de Vries, Director of Holiday Tours and Travel Operations Manager for Comair’s Travel Division.

Holiday Tours – the ‘cyber’ trailblazers

New white label & clone sites for AA Getaways

RWA has just completed a project to create new white label and clone sites for AA Getaways – AA Getaways is the travel brand of the UK Automobile Association which has over 15 million members. The scope of the project was to create white labels and clone sites based on the main AA Getaways website with:-

  • Configuration and branding for the white labels based on the third party’s website
  • Ability to run different offers on different sites
  • Ability to exclude elements from each white label site e.g not to feature a particular transport type, exclude maps, navigation links etc
  • Able to set up and display unique contact details
  • Ability to set up and update tracking code for each site
  • Ability to set up client-side redirects within Inventory Manager for promotions
  • Enhancements to Inventory Manager so that the brochure information can either come from a common brochure or could be set up in individual brochures for each site controlled via our xml based cms
  • Enhancements to the header/footer xml to allow for multiple definitions to be set up within a single brochure and the correct one to be used based on the web site brand
  • Ability to set up clone sites directly in Inventory Manager and manage xml content for each site

Holiday Tours Launches Agent Online Leisure Hub

Holiday Tours, South Africa’s oldest outbound tour wholesaler has launched an agent online leisure hub using RWA’s Sell-It Suite

Commenting on the launch, Iain Meaker, Executive Manager of Travel and Distribution says that “the group’s vision…was to build an online leisure holiday hub where agents can get prices, see availability, quote and book. This can be achieved through the use of the website in its Holiday Tours branded form, or a deeper integration in which we enable our customers’ brands with the technology in a product/distribution partnership.  The plan is to give agents ‘true enablement’ when dealing with customers who increasingly expect instant resposnse.”

Holiday Tours have created a media campaign to accompany the launch and are promoting the hub capabilities to agents on their web site.

New AA Getaways Site Goes Live

AA Getaways The Automobile Association has launched a new AA Getaways web site that is ‘powered by Sell-It’. AA Getaways is the travel brand of the UK Automobile Association which has over 15 million members.

The site is the result of a collaboration between the AA, Great Getaways, RWA, Jellybean and CX partners to design and implement a functionally rich web site that is also quick and easy to use. The site, which was implemented by RWA based on designs delivered by Jellybean and CX partners makes extensive use of RWA’s Sell-It Suite Widget Toolkit.

AA GetawaysRWA worked with the AA, Great Getaways and their partners to design, implement and deliver a new travel site offering short breaks and holidays to Europe and beyond. AA Getaways works with travel providers and hoteliers to bring amazing value on quality breaks to top destinations around the world. These include Eurostar deals, city breaks, beach breaks, holidays or Europe via ferry or Eurotunnel.

The new web site has real-time links for Eurostar and Eurotunnel, a number of ferry companies and scheduled and low cost carriers.

It makes extensive use of RWA’s Widget Toolkit to provide dynamic offers and other promotional features which are specific to the particular destination or product being viewed.

Launch of of SplendidGo

RWA are delighted to announce the launch of SplendidGo a new travel venture offering travel services including accommodation in over 15,000 hotels in more than 200 destinations. SplendidGo are using Sell-It Suite to provide holiday offers consisting of hotel inventory from GTA and Hotelbeds, low cost and scheduled flights via Ypsilon and other ground products loaded and managed in Sell-It’s Inventory Manager.

The launch is the culmination of a significant project between RWA and a young, dynamic team of travel professionals based in Romania. The www.splendidgo.com and www.splendidgo.ro web sites have been designed by RWA working closely with the SplendidGo team and contains:

  • Exclusive Romanian content including brochure content for GTA hotels (a world first)
  • Romanian language sites with prices in both Lei and Euro
  • An English language site with prices in Euro
  • Real-time access to low-cost and scheduled flights using Ypsilon’s Direct Connect product
