Promotions and Discounts Functionality In Sell-It Suite

Our conversations with travel companies continue to indicate the importance of being able to quickly and easily create promotional offers and special discounts for specific products, destinations or groups of people. We have responded to this by providing some outstanding promotion and discount features in Sell-It. These include:

  • Free Night Offers e.g. stay 7 pay for 6
  • Early bird specials e.g. book more than 90 days before departure and receive 5% off
  • Discounted nights e.g. stay 14 nights and receive 10%

All of the above can be set for specific accommodation and booking and stay date ranges. You can even make the offer for a specific room type and arrival days if desired. This enables the quick and easy creation of even complex promotions such as “10% off any stay of 8 or more nights in a deluxe room in Hotel Gorgeous if you book during January for stay during June.

In addition, Sell-It includes a facility to create powerful discount rules that can be associated with groups of users and also voucher codes if desired.

Discount Rules consist of:

  • A discount amount – % or fixed
  • The channels/web site for which the discount is applicable
  • The discount period – booking and travel date ranges
  • The product types for which the discount applies (and therefore conversely does not apply)
  • A specific origin or destination for which the discount is applicable
  • A Marketing Type for which the discount is applicable.

Categories of users which define:

  • A group of users e.g. “Valued clients” or members of an organisation with a membership number
  • One or more discount rules applicable to that category

Voucher codes

  • One or more voucher codes and a link to the group of users for which the voucher code is applicable So, for example, it is then possible to create e.g. the following discounts for valued clients to whom you send a voucher code.
  • 5% off all accommodation for any bookings made by the end of December
  • 10% off diving holidays to Sharm el-Sheikh in April
  • When they enter the voucher code on the web site they will get one of the two discounts above based on the holiday they choose.

Version 5.0 Of Sell-It Suite

New customer driven enhancements provide further significant tour operating benefits in the latest version of Sell-It Suite. Commenting on the version, Mark Bradbury, SVP of Global Sales stated, “Version 5 demonstrates RWA’s ongoing commitment to the product family and to providing tour operators, wholesalers and airlines with the capabilities necessary to sell flexibly, service efficiently and manage effectively.”

Version 5 contains the following new features and enhancements to existing functionality:

1. User Group and Product Related Discounts and Vouchers

The discount functionality in Version 4 has been significantly enhanced with new discounts functionality in Version 5. The new version includes the ability to create,

Discount Rules

2. Cancellation and Amendement Automation

Sell-It’s Booking Manager now automatically calculates the applicable cancellation or amendment charges due when a booking is changed. The calculation is based on the cancellation and amendment policies defined in the appropriate product contract set up in Inventory Manager. Policy calculations include per person and per night charges based on a percentage of the booking value or a fixed fee and include the ability to vary these based on the number of days after booking or before departure that the change is made.

3. Super White Labels

RWA has taken the concept of “white label” web sites a major step further with the introduction of a “super white label” capability in version 5. This enables travel companies to quickly produce a web site which has its own unique product offers and pricing, all built from within the one common inventory database. The first super white label site to be launched is Kulula Travel’s Sunbreaks Holidays which makes available special offers packaging Kulula flights with Southern Sun properties under a special deal agreement.

4. Multi-Language Support In Sell-It Online

Sell-It Online now fully supports multiple languages and a complete translation into Italian is ready for launch.

5. Balance Payments Online

Sell-It Online has been enhanced as part of RWA’s ongoing customer self service initiative to enable direct customers and travel agents to make an online payment for the balance due (or any other amount) on a holiday. The holiday can either have been booked online or via the travel companies call centre.

6. Child Age Bands and Pricing

Sell-It’s Inventory and Bookings Managers now support contracts which have different prices and occupancy rules for younger and older children e.g. children and teenagers. The child age bands are defined at the contract level (with overrides on a room basis if required). Room occupancy rules can be defined using both child age bands. The Bookings Manager and Sell-It Online have also been enhanced to support the new pricing models.

7. Rate Cutovers

Hotel contracts may specify a different rate for a 3rd adult sharing a room with two other adults. Sell-It’s Inventory Manager has also been enhanced to support the concept of a “rate cutover” as the party make-up changes providing support for these and other pricing models.

8. Additional Forms Of Payment

In addition to supporting all major debit and credit cards, Sell-It now allows agents to report settlement via other payment methods, for example EFT.

9. Automated Cost Adjustment For Supplier Reconciliation

When invoices come in from a supplier and are entered into the system, Sell-It’s Finance Manager will automatically adjust the costs in the supplier purchase ledger and appropriate booking to match the invoice provided the variations are within specified tolerances.

10. Further Marketing and MIS Reports

We continue to add further marketing and management information reports into Sell-It. Examples added into Version 5 include: Top X reports which report on e.g. the top x agents by sales value over a period, top x agents by destination bookings, top x agents by passenger volumes; Accommodation Sales Analysis reports which reports on monthly sales by property; Supplier Sales Analysis which reports on monthly sales by supplier; Low Inventory and Stop Sell reports; Brochure Pricing report giving nightly rates by period for one or more specific properties.

11. Complex Commission Profiles

The agent commission capabilities in Sell-It have been enhanced to support complex commission profiles. These profiles contain information on the commission levels to be paid for defined categories of products. Standard categories e.g. “Transport”, “Accommodation” and “Ground Products” are supplied with the system and can be used as defined or Sell-It users can also define their own additional categories. This enables commission rates to be established for quite specific sets of product inventory if desired. Commission levels for each category can vary by both booking and travel date range.

12. Enhanced Web Services

RWA continues to extend the functionality of our Sell-It XML Gateway which now supports the full amendment or cancellation of a booking using our web services. Amendment and cancellation penalties are automatically applied in accordance with the policies set up in the appropriate product contracts.

13. Additional Supplier Links

Version 5 includes optional connectivity to a number of payment service providers including iVeri and Consorzio. We also have links through to Navitaire, Kulula and 1time flight systems.

14. Context Sensitive Online Help

Version 5 includes context sensitive online help menus with full implementation for our Inventory Manager. Performance Enhancements Version 5 includes further performance enhancements for inventory search and pricing and package building. We have also added performance tuning capabilities in our Sell-It XML Gateway.

16. Pricing For Complex Itineraries

Consumers and agents are, quite rightly, demanding accurate pricing information as early as possible during the searching and booking processes – even for complex itineraries. Version 5 demonstrates RWA’s desire to support travel companies in providing this by offering unique, industry-leading, accurate pricing logic, even for the most complex leisure itineraries.

Live Availability In Product Search Lists

livesearchRWA has introduced a new search facility which incorporates LIVE AVAILABILTY into the drop down list boxes. The destination, star rating, departure and return date fields are populated dynamically based on their linked selections and a live availability check in the system.

This significantly improves the usability of the search facility as it immediately shows what is available and eliminates the frustration of entering search criteria only to find that either no offers are available or the system has returned something else instead!

As far as we are aware, this is another first from RWA as no other system is able to offer this feature.

Tour Operator Signs Up For Sell-It

hotel splendidRWA has just signed a contract with a tour operator who has selected Sell-It Suite as their reservation system for their outbound, inbound and domestic holidays business.

The system is planned to go live later this year and will contain four hotel supplier links, a low-cost carrier link and a GDS interface for real-time availability, pricing and booking of accommodation and flights. These will be combined for sale with the tour operator’s own contracted products.

Sell-It Suite Support For Amadeus Negotiated Space

amadeus2Sell-It Suite now includes support for the selling of negotiated fares via the Amadeus Negotiated Space product. Using this facility, tour operators can check availability against both their own negotiated and published fares in Amadeus in one query facilitating seamless synchronisation between the Amadeus system and their own negotiated inventory and fares.

With Sell-It’s Negotiated Space support, a single availability query can be made on a flight route for a particular day and availability will be checked against the tour operator’s negotiated fare seat allocations loaded into Amadeus by the airline. If there is availability this will be returned. If not, a seamless availability search will be made for seat availability using published fares with the search result indicating that a published fare has been used instead.

RWA New Widget Toolkit

RWA has developed a toolkit of re-usable web site widgets which can be used to develop and deliver a new generation of travel web sites containing outstanding promotional and directional selling capabilities using dynamic product information, availability and pricing.

Many travel companies are struggling with the major challenge of how to develop and maintain functionally rich, dynamic web sites that support quick creation and display of product promotions and special offers and also facilitate directional selling. Often, promotions and special offers are created as static items which may or may not have deep links to product offers in the company’s database. The poor webmaster or web marketing person is left with the responsibility to keep these offers up-to-date and relevant.

RWA’s new toolkit overcomes all of these headaches by enabling the development of a new generation of web sites containing widgets for deal pods, offer tabs, accordion specials, recommended destination panels, holiday type galleries and more.Each widget can be placed on one or more pages of a web site and the information shown is retrieved in real-time from the product database when the page is displayed. As products are added or sold (via any sales channel), the widgets automatically display offers based on the selection criteria set up in the widget.

Each widget comes with its own XML schema and data and Product Marketers have complete control over the product offers that each widget displays using an information editor incorporated into Sell-It Suite’s Inventory Manager.

RWA’s Web Based Support System

RWA operates an internet based reporting and tracking capability that provides Sell-It customers with the ability to:

  • Log questions, problems and so on by creating a support ticket via the e-mail or
    web interface
  • See the status of specific tickets using defined status categories
  • Send subsequent emails that get added to the original ticket (thus keeping
    everything related to one issue together)
  • View both an individual users own tickets and all support tickets
    raised by the company

The RWA support team and customer staff are therefore able to work co-operatively updating the tickets to answer questions, progress work items and then close out support request efficiently.

Highly Rated Product Training

trainingcourseRWA provides a number of standard Sell-It Suite training courses which can be customised to a particular customer’s requirements. Training is conducted either at RWA’s or the customer’s premises and consists of instructional sessions, classroom examples and the ability to then apply the knowledge gained to the customer’s own specific products as part of the training.

At the end of each training course, each participant is asked to complete a feedback questionnaire which includes 5 key rating questions. The charts show just how highly our training courses and product trainers are rated by our customers.

RWA offers a fully managed hosting service which is being used by almost all of our Sell-It Suite customers. RWA is responsible for the entire system (hardware and the operating system platform and supporting the Sell-It Suite applications.

The service provides the following:

  • Deployment and management of a specific Sell-It Suite product instance and database for each customer
  • Secure, encrypted internet connectivity via a fibre optic connection providing contracted committed bandwidth for each customer
  • A backup Internet connection in the unlikely event of primary failure
  • Web site usage statistics and graphical network traffic reports showing web site and call-centre traffic flow
  • Regular product upgrades
  • Daily backups and log rotations
  • Extensive monitoring of the hosting environment with automated alerts

Sell-It Suite Fully Managed Hosting Service – Disaster Recovery Offering

Disaster RecoveryRWA’s Disaster Recovery (DR) offering provides Sell-It Suite customers with the ‘insurance’ of a separate, parallel, maintained environment, located physically separate from their main hosted system.

In the situation where the primary environment becomes unavailable due to a significant ‘event’, the DR offering is able to switch usage from the primary to the DR platform.

 

 

We currently offer two DR options:

Silver

Database backups are copied nightly to the parallel DR platform which is configured & maintained by RWA Staff. Expected downtime of downtime of 3-4hrs.

Gold

Real-time database replication (less the 3 seconds) so no data loss. Near to instantaneous switchover for call centres to DR Platform which will be configured & maintained. Web sites available as soon as DNS updates propagate.

The centre, located only 10 miles from RWA’s offices has dual super grid substations, diverse physically separate connections to the internet delivering up to 10,000 mbs and advanced fire detection & suppression The centre has a 4m blast fence, manned 24 x 7, with armed response, airlock style entry, full day & night time infra-red CCTV and meets section 5 of HM Gov security standard.
