Broker Communications Solution for Equities Trading System

RWA helped Credit Suisse First Boston (CSFB) achieve their main goal of creating a more open messaging environment for their equities trading system that has in turn created a flexible trading environment.

X.25 Line Handler

RWA designed and delivered an "X.25 Line Handler" that would handle all X.25 communications between the bank's brokerage customers and the new trading system. The Line Handler was required to:

  • Handle up to 1,500 simultaneous connections

  • Handle all X.25 packets and maintain broker sessions

  • Validate incoming connection requests

  • Perform initial message validation

  • Be highly resilient

  • Handle up to 250 messages per second

Simplified and Flexible Communications Solution For The Trading Application

RWA also simplified the communications layer of the broker desktop trading application and reduced the complexity of the environment installed in the broker's offices. To accomplish this, RWA was able to draw upon its own library of Wide Area Network (WAN) components. The new solution also gives offers greater flexibility and the ability to work with a range of network interface cards and communications protocols.

IP Line Handler

RWA also delivered an Internet Protocol (IP) version of the Line Handler described above.
