Mortgage Application Processing System (MAPS)
In 1994 RWA Provided Technical Consultancy and some development resources to assist ACT Business Systems in this joint project with AT&T GIS. The project, known as MAPS, involved the definition and development of a mortgage application processing system, suitable for large UK lenders. The architecture involved the use of AT&T's workflow and imaging products, combined with OO development tools and relational databases. After a duration of 6 months, this project was terminated as a result of the sale of ACT Business Systems to Parity Consulting.
The project delivered two successful prototypes:-
- The first demonstrated a typical front office scenario, involving information capture, automated credit checking and production of a printed offer in principal.
- The second proved the proposed technical architecture. This involved developing an application that interfaced to Sybase, ProcessIT and DMS, and showed how a complete mortgage 'case' could be moved around a processing centre, driven by a workflow map.
Both these prototypes were developed exclusively by RWA, using the Actor OO development environment for Windows (this is very similar to Smalltalk). RWA installed and configured all the server software (on AT&T UNIX platforms). We also built the necessary middleware and application logic driving the prototype.
